ARTISIA BURTON

Artisia Burton is a native of the DMV (DC, MD and VA) area, and one of fashions up and coming accessory designer, stylist and retail buyer. She is the owner, buyer and designer of Multiple Offender Online Boutique coming May 2014. Her one dream has always been to dress everyone fashionable at an affordable price. A product of an artistic background with both of her parents being artist, Artisia has always looked at the world as her canvas. A graduate of Bowie State University’s Fine Arts (Studio/Fashion Design) Department specializing in sculpture and fashion design, with a concentrated study of accessory design. Her education and emersion in the art world translates into everything she creates in her accessories. Her funky eclectic style draws the attention of everyone she meets….leaving them wanting more. In her eyes fashion is not just a lifestyle but a full time job.

The Multiple Offenders brand and online boutique was created in Jan 2013 and is the brain child of Artisia Burton. Multiple Offender customers think out of the box and like being eccentric but original. They are confident and bold women (primarily) that enjoy wearing exclusive art pieces as clothing or accessories.

What is the meaning of your name/brand's name?
Artisia: The meaning of my name comes from both of my parents being artists so they wanted to include “Art” in my name which turned into Artisia. My brand “Multiple Offenders” represents fashion lovers that aren’t afraid to break the rules of the fashion industry’s norm. Multiple Offender customers take risks with their wardrobes and don’t mind being the center of attention when they walk in a room. In today’s society multiple offenders are seen as repeat offenders of the same crime. The Multiple Offender brand takes this definition, and puts a positive spin on it. Our customers are repeat offenders of breaking all the fashion boundaries and rules that society makes.

When did you know you wanted to pursue a fashion career?
Artisia: "From day one I have been involved and immersed in the art/fashion world, because both of my parents are artists. My mother graduated from Pratt University in New York with a BA in Fine Arts. My mother is an amazing seamstress and artist so when I was younger she made mostly all of my clothes. So from a young age I started designing clothes when I was about 10 or 11. I designed, produced and hosted my first fashion show at the age of 15 and from then on I knew I could never stray far from the fashion world. After that I began modeling for local DC area fashions shows, photographers and printed publications. I also helped train models for some other fashion shows in the DMV area."

What Is your Inspiration?
Artisia: "My inspirations are sculpture, shape, nature, events that happen in my life/society, pop culture and trends. My favorite designers are Karl Lagerfeld, Jeremy Scott, Marc Jacobs and Betsey Johnson."

What do you want people to take from your music/fashion?
Artisia: "I want people to take from my designs and style that you can be free to express yourself through what you wear and have fun with it. My fashion designs are walking pieces of art, not for the faint of heart."

What are you working on now?
Artisia: "Now I am working on my online boutique that is set to open this year in May and a new patent leather quote/emoji clutch series that will be sold on the site.

Do you have anything in the near future we should look out for?
Artisia: "Yes, my online boutique “Multiple Offenders” opening May 2014 and new designs."

Do you have any Shoutouts?
Artisia: (Laughs out loud) Yes, shout out to God for blessing me with such a special talent, my husband for putting up with my over the top creativity and my parents for helping my hone my skills in the art world.
